American woman living in Denmark dies and six others are injured when jetskis smash into a small boat in Copenhagen

An American woman who had been living in Denmark died in a boat accident that left six others injured on Saturday. 

The woman has not been named, but it is believed her family witnessed the accident, which happened near the Langebro bridge in Copenhagen, Denmark.

One or more jet skis collided with a small boat in the Copenhagen Harbor just before 7.45pm Denmark time.

Those on the jet skis fled the scene, but eight people have since been arrested.

The Copenhagen police confirmed that one woman died and six others were injured in the accident. 

The deceased woman was an American who lived in Denmark where she went to language school, according to Danish television broadcaster TV2.

According to the broadcaster, jet skis and other personal watercraft are not permitted in the Copenhagen Harbor without prior permission.

  1. Motor boats are allowed in this area but there is a speed limit. Those people who rent out boats are running a dangerous business for their customers because when you operate any boat in this area you have to follow the international rules for operating ships. This is an active harbour where large ships deliver goods to the remaining businesses in the lower part of the harbour and building materials for all the new high raise buildings being constructed there. People have to be alerted when they sail a small boat which cannot be seen by the harbour ferries and other motor boats. They should actually have a 3 hours course before they are allowed to sail but then the greedy business men would not have a business.
