Florida man faces eviction because he refuses to give up his emotional support wild SQUIRREL

A man from Clearwater Beach in Florida is trying to keep his emotional support squirrel who he rescued after Hurricane Matthew last year.

Ryan Boylan’s condo owner has threatened to evict him after property management found Brutis, his pet squirrel, climbing up a tree after running away from a dog.

Since then the condo association has filed a complaint as exotic animals are not allowed in the building.

Boylan was sent a letter last month that stated he had to either get rid of the squirrel or be evicted, according to News Channel 8.

Speaking about Brutis he said: ‘Ever since then I mean, oh my God, I can’t imagine not being around her.’

‘I was very sad that he had to basically push every single limitation that he could to try and get me out because of Brutis,’ he said about the condo owner.

Boylan claims Brutis is an emotional support animal, which is described as a companion animal that provides benefit for an individual with a disability.

However, according to attorneys Boylan never submitted paperwork stating Brutis was an emotional support animal until just recently this past summer.

A letter from his doctor stated: ‘I have prescribed Ryan to obtain emotional support animal(s). The presence of the animal(s) is necessary for the emotional/mental health of Ryan Boylan.’

His doctor said Boylan suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder following a car accident.

Boylan states he feels he is being discriminated against and complained to the Office of Human Rights.

Former board member, Sherry Arfa said: I don’t know if he’s discriminated against. I’m sure it’s like any emotional support dog, people ask questions.’

‘It’s just like with any animal, you can have the nicest dog and they could bite somebody, it’s no guarantee,’ said Arfa.

‘As I said if it was a gerbil or something that your grandkid had hiding under the bed, I’m sure that would be fine, but a squirrel is a wild animal.’
