Everyone welcome: Grandmother who accidentally texted the wrong number and invited a stranger to Thanksgiving dinner has him round to hers for holiday meal

A week after taking the internet by storm, Wanda Dench and Jamal Hinton have finally sat down together for a Thanksgiving feast.

Dench accidentally texted Hinton earlier this month, inviting him to her family’s traditional holiday lunch in Mesa, Arizona.

The 17-year-old student replied saying the grandmother had texted the wrong person, but asked if he could: ‘still get a plate though?’

Dench replied almost immediately, ‘Of course you can, that’s what grandmas do’ and the invitation was officially accepted.

On Thursday, Hinton stayed true to his reservation, with Dench hugging her ‘honorary grandson’ immediately as he walked up to her house.

The 17-year-old was thrilled with the meal, and that he had accidentally become linked with such a nice person.

‘I’d never seen her before and She welcomed me into her home,’ Hinton said, according to ABC15
