‘I will make you listen to One Direction cover bands on the way to jail’: Cops warn people not to drink and drive in hilarious viral tweet

One Minnesota police department kicked off the Thanksgiving holiday in probably the most hilarious way possible as they told drivers to beware of a long ride to jail listening to One Direction, if they drive drunk.

The Wyoming, MN, Police Department creatively brought some much needed attention to alcohol-related crashes in a tweet that went viral the day before Thanksgiving.

‘Do NOT drive drunk. I will find you. I will arrest you. I will make you listen to One Direction cover bands on the way to jail,’ they tweeted.

The department’s goal is to make sure people drive safely during the holiday weekend as they travel to and from their destinations to visit their families.

And the amusing tweet caused quite the Twitter frenzy with dozens commenting on it.

By Saturday morning, the tweet garnered more than 5,000 retweets.

One Twitter user asked the department: ‘But what if we like One Direction?’

The officer behind the department’s Twitter page cleverly tweeted back: ‘Nobody likes One Direction.’

One person even posed the question: ‘Do you guys offer Uber rides but like free?’

‘Yes, to jail,’ the department responded.

There were even some exchanges with other police stations.

The Oxford Police Department tweeted: ‘Seems extreme even for @OxfordPolice standards. #WePlayChristmasMusic’.

Actually, it seems like they do this at least once a week during their #TalkingTuesday chats with folks in the area.
