A mother and father were left stunned and overwhelmed when their six-week-old daughter said “hello” when she saw them.
The couple from Salisbury, Wiltshire, have shared an amazing video that shows the moment their little chatter box says her first word.
Baby Charlotte Wheeler-Osman, now eight-weeks-old, shocked parents Samantha and Dave, when she greeted them with the word.

The couple now have high hopes for their third child – who they think is destined to be a wordsmith.
‘I literally walked past her one day while she was in her bouncy chair and she said “hello”,’ said Samantha, 28.

‘She says it all the time now – I couldn’t believe it.
‘Everyone says ‘hiya’ to her but she is obviously posher.
‘She’s my third child – they say they get quicker as they go on but I didn’t think she would be this quick!’
Husband Dave, 30, a refuse collector, heard his little one say the word and immediately grabbed his camera.
After spurring their daughter on with a few more ‘hellos’ she came out with it again, and it is now her favourite word.
He added: ‘It was quite a shock.
‘Our other two took a lot longer but she just came out with it after six weeks.
‘I think she’ll be a quick learner.’
The couple have two other children – Gerrard, four, and Alfie, three.
Charlotte was born on September 24, weighing 6lbs 11oz, at Salisbury District Hospital.

Samantha, a full-time mother, said she wanted to share the video after seeing other baby videos and realising that Charlotte was by far the cleverest.
‘She’s definitely going to be a chatty one,’ she added.
Babies are not expected to start saying proper words till at least six months, after they have experimented with sounds. Some develop later and on average it is not until at least 18 months that a child say short sentences.
The couple joked she is already posher than some of their friends who had been saying ‘hiya’ to her and not hello
