Mother can’t remember the names of her daughter’s college friends – but that doesn’t stop her from trying to label them on Facebook… with hilarious results

When her daughter went away to college, one Texas mother found that she couldn’t keep track of all the girl’s new friends — but that hasn’t stopped her from trying to give them shout-outs on Facebook.

Patti Wood likes to keep tabs on what her 21-year-old daughter, Christina Duron, gets up to at Texas State University, where she is currently a senior. And Christina happily obliges, sending her mom photos from sorority formals and nights out with friends.

Patti, though, plays the embarrassing mom card — and then some. Not only does she post the pictures Christina sends her on her own Facebook page, but she labels them, often misidentifying Christina’s friends and even openly admitting that she can’t remember who they are.

Patti has been doing this for some time, but earned notoriety on social media after her daughter’s sorority formal this weekend.

Christina sent over some photos, which Patti promptly uploaded to Facebook — with some questionable labels.

‘My gorgeous daughter Christina and her date for formal, sorry I forgot his name,’ she captioned the first image of Christina with a besuited student. It didn’t seem to occur to her to end her caption after the word ‘formal’.

On another picture of her daughter with a friend, she wrote with some confusion: ‘Christina and Allyssa? Kara?’

Silence is golden: Captioning one photo, she even offered up a question as to who exactly was posing with her kid

Captioning a third photo, she wrote: ‘Christina and is that Victoria?’

Unfortunately, none of the names Patti ventured were correct. Christina texted her mom to try to correct her, but Patti still couldn’t get it right.

On the picture with a friend she’d labeled ‘Victoria’, Patti commented: ‘Christina and Dakota, her new little.’

That wasn’t right either, though, and Christina commented to tell her that the image actually featured a young woman named Miranda.

While some kids would lose their patience, though, Christina paired her eye-roll with a laugh, even taking to Twitter to share screenshots of her mom’s mistakes.

‘I really can’t with mom,’ she wrote in a tweet that’s been favorited a thousand times. But while she says she ‘can’t’,’ she’s obviously quite forgiving.

‘I think it’s harder for her [to remember] because she can’t meet all of them,’ she told Mashable of her mom messing up her college friends’ names. ‘My friends know [she gets them confused] and they always text me when she does it.’

They’ve come to think it’s pretty funny too, though. Christina added: ‘They think it’s hilarious because I’ve tried to correct her and she can never get it quite right.’
