New father bursts into hospital waiting room to announce ‘It’s a girl!’… only to find his friend has already broken the news

The surprise was meant to be one of the biggest moments of this young dad’s life.

But as he walked into the waiting room to announce the birth of his baby daughter, he realised a friend, who was also a doctor, had already told everybody.

Taking to Redditto vent, the father described how the overeager paediatrician tarnished the moment he had been looking forward to for nine whole months.

The doctor found out the gender of the baby girl by messaging a nurse the second she was born.

She then broke the news to friends and family gathered in the waiting room.

‘Our friend the paediatrician told everyone in the waiting room the joyful news,’ the father wrote.

‘I was unaware, so our friends and family pretended to hear it for the first time when I arrived shortly thereafter.

‘I found out the truth from the paediatrician herself who came clean.’

‘I’m not gonna lie – before I knew of what our friend had done, I looked at that moment as easily one of the top five experiences of my life,’ he continued.

While the father was naturally ecstatic at the birth of his baby girl, he said he could not help feeling the moment had been ‘tainted’ by the doctor.

‘Am I unreasonable for feeling betrayed and placing a lot of emphasis on this,’ he wrote.

Many commenters agreed with the disappointed father’s sentiments and were quick to criticise the doctor.

‘That was extremely rude and disrespectful of her,’ one wrote.

‘I would be hurt and upset too. She took your moment. We don’t get very many moments like that in life, and she decided she wanted this one,’ another commented.

‘That’s not OK. I’m sorry that happened to you.’
