A Florida man was arrested after allegedly attacking his neighbor with a samurai sword.
Marco Almeida was sitting in his car going through mail when he said Jerald Phifer banged on his vehicle and started screaming profanities at him on Monday night.
Almeida then called police and drove around his block for nearly 20 minutes as 61-year-old Phifer followed behind, who he said wanted to harm him.

After Phifer was eventually ushered back inside his home by others living with him, Almeida thought it was all over, until the garage door opened and Phifer pulled out a silver samurai katana, according to Click Orlando.
‘The next thing I know, he opens the garage door and he comes after me,’ Almeida told the station as he recounted the ordeal.
‘I thought, “Is that a weapon?” I could not believe it.’
The married father-of-three said he was not sure if Phifer was ‘drunk or on drugs’ as the incident unfolded.
After his initial contact with Phifer by his car, Almeida said he put his vehicle into drive and stayed on the phone with police while trying to keep a safe distance.

However, he said Phifer kept following him and at one point took off his shirt and said he wanted to ‘fight and hurt’ him.
Almeida did not take cover at home because he was fearful that Phifer might go inside his house or that something might happen to his family, he said.
‘I didn’t want him to come to my house, my family is here. He would come into my house and hurt somebody. I thought the best way is to keep him close so I can describe who this individual is,’ he told Click Orlando.
Almeida described incident as ‘very scary’ and that it left him fearing for his and his family’s safety.
Neighbor Shaunta Williams, who witnessed Phifer waving the sword, said she had called police after fearing for her safety
‘It was very scary. The worst part is I haven’t done or said anything to this individual to come after me,’ he told Click Orlando.
Neighbor Shaunta Williams, who witnessed Phifer waving the sword, said she had called police after also fearing for her safety.
She told Click Orlando she saw Phifer waving the sword ‘up and down’ at Almeida while yelling ‘get out here, get the f*** out of our neighborhood.’
If Almeida had gotten out of his car, he would not have made it, Williams said.
Phifer was arrested and charged with following the incident in Delotona, Florida
When officers arrived at the scene, they located Phifer and the sword where he had ditched it.
Phifer is no longer in custody, according to jail records, and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies did not immediately respond to Dailymail.com’s request for comment.
