‘Welcome home from rehab!’ The most amusing (and mortifying) airport greeting banners ever

For most of us, it’s a real treat getting off a plane to a warm welcome and a personalised greeting banner.

But for some of these weary travellers, mortification was more the order of the day.

Let’s hope they at least got a laugh, as in the case of the passenger who entered the arrivals hall to find her giggling friend clutching a bottle of champagne along with a sign reading: ‘Kirsten, welcome home from REHAB’.

In a collection of examples rounded up by MailOnline Travel, it wasn’t the only time this rehab prank was pulled at an airport – with one also reading: ‘Hugs not drugs’.

Another stunt saw a woman with a sign featuring the photo of a man along with the caption: ‘Running out of $ have u seen my sugar daddy?’

The joke appears to gone down well since the gentleman in question is seemingly grinning next to the sign.

One rather enormous banner reads, in a deadpan fashion: ‘Hi mom only we would do this’.

Another reads: ‘Welcome home son (it’s okay to be gay)’ – held aloft by what is presumably both father and son.

At least one welcome sign was more of a heartwarmer than a practical joke, in the case of the adorable young girl clutching a poster which reads: ‘Get out of my way I get my daddy back 2 day’.

In a similar vein, this photo submitter captioned his masterpiece: 'Mom came for a visit, made her a welcome sign'

Is this a joke, a plea, or simply the case of a passenger with a very unfortunate last name?
