CNN got into the holiday mood on Thursday by running a countdown clock that ticked down the hours and minutes until President Obama formally announces whether or not he plans to send two newborns off to die.
It was all the idea of CNN anchor John Berman, who has not been shy in voicing his morbid interest in knowing the fate of the two, whose names are Tater and Tot.
‘I. Won. Thanksgiving,’ wrote Berman on Twitter, sharing a photo of his CNN clock.

Morbid: CNN is counting down until President Obama decides if he will kill or pardon two young turkeys
Hey boys: The ‘turkey learns fate’ clock aired on the network late Wednesday morning and was the idea of host John Berman (Tater and Tot above)
The countdown clock did not air all day on the network, just when Berman was on air, prompting an array of responses on social media.
‘CNN has countdown clock titled “Turkey Learns Fate.” I’m guessing America is the turkey & we’ll find out January 20,’ wrote on Twitter user.
Another found a bit less humor in the clock, writing: ‘Yeah, Russia probably stole our election, but at least @CNN is diligently covering the #Turkey pardon with a countdown clock.
The two young males, who were both born this past July in Iowa, are set to meet with President Obama at 3pm on Wednesday.
Those who cannot wait that long to find out what happens to these babies will be happy to know that Tater and Tot, two vibrant young turkeys, will get to live.
Thanks President Obama!
Tater and Tot the White House have already revealed will be heading off to Virginia Tech after the ceremony, living out their lives at Gobbler’s Rest.
That may be a difficult adjustment for the two however, who spent Tuesday night at the Willard Hotel.
Rooms at the Willard start at $400 a night.
